Ευχαριστώ!

When you're in Greece, you do as the Greeks do.

Ευχαριστώ!

My brain is all the time making up dumb little song fragments about whatever’s going on around me. Usually they’re ephemeral, but, for whatever reason, this one amused me enough to produce. If you’re only going to listen to one novelty song about saying “thank you” in Greek today, I hope you’ll consider making it this one.

I’ve been around the world and everywhere I go
I’ve found that it pays to be polite
It’s not about your influence or who you know
It’s not about your clothing or your height

Forget the Caribbean, my favorite place to be in
Is here on the on the Aegean, it is true
There are so many ways that you can say “thank you”
But when you’re in Greece you do as the Greeks do

Ευχαριστώ
Παρακαλώ

I’ve been to Paris and I’ve been to Amsterdam
The food in Tokyo was dynamite
I’ve tipped my hat in New Orleans and Birmingham
But I prefer the land of blue and white

Whatever you are doin’, the restaurants and ruins,
a good time is a shoo-in, you will see
There are so many places that a fellow can be
But only in Ελλάδα can I really be me

Ευχαριστώ
Παρακαλώ
